Indonesian Navy Battleships to Help Secure G20 Summit in Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ahead of the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16, the Indonesian Navy, or TNI AL, announced that it has prepared its troops and 12 Navy battleships that will be mobilized to secure the international event. 

“This is to guard state leaders. We have to truly prepare our battleships,” said the Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono in a written statement on October 31. 

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) marshal Fadjar Prasetyo emphasized the magnitude of the G20 Presidency that will attract international attention, Therefore, his battalion will take the responsibility of securing VVIP guests, airport security, and general state aircraft traffic. 

Indonesian Army Commander Dudung Abdurachman also explained that the Army will mobilize 252 electric vehicles during the G20 series of events that will be tasked as escort vehicles. 

“These will be used to support the escorting and securing of the Head of States and government leaders,” said Armed Forces spokesperson Rear Admiral Kisdiyanto.

In total, there will be 18,030 joint security personnel securing G20 Summit which comprises 14,000 Armed Forces, 3,200 police personnel, and 492 from various other security institutions.
